Eight Years of Romans

How long does it take to listen to eight years worth of sermons on Romans? For me, with a thirty-minute commute each way to work, it took about 2 1/2 years. Yesterday I finished listening to John Piper's 218 sermon series on "Romans: The Greatest Letter Ever Written." What a blessing! I have been helped and shaped in ways I might never understand. Piper has been the closest thing I have had to a mentor without my having ever met him.

I praise God for his work in the lives of men like John Piper and for using them to make disciples.

I picked up a copy of this at the Desiring God conference in Sept. I started listening on Oct 3rd and have listened to 78 of the 224 sermons. So, I still have a ways to go but I have really enjoyed it so far (and learned a ton).

If you are ready to pass the series on, I know someone who will gladly take it off your hands!

Good stuff, brother. Talk about perseverance of the saints.

Jimmy,

I only found 218 sermons online, so I will have to figure out what I am missing! I'm jealous about your attending the DG conference. Someday I'd like to go. Are you planning to attend T4G?

Terry! Didn't I give you a DVD of the series?

Todd,

Now that you mention it, I remember that I had a problem with four of the files on the DVD. I think the DVD said on the packaging that there were 224 sermons and when I imported to iTunes I noticed there were only 218. I can't remember what I did to get them to import nor what I did to figure out which ones I was missing. I think if you look on the DVD though, you will see all 224.

About the DG conference, it was a great experience. I went with a friend and our thought was this might be the only opportunity we would ever have to see John Piper, John MacArthur and Jerry Bridges all at the same place. We couldn't pass it up. I would definitely recommend going if you get a chance.

I would like to attend T4G, but I am not going to be able to. Work, family, life not going to allow for it this year. Are you going?

I am planning to attend, and I have heard it is an excellent conference. How could it not be? God has so amazingly used the men who lead it...

Agreed. I am sure it will be great. I imagine you will post about it when you get back. I look forward to hearing about it.
